Pretend school & dressing up

SOMETIMES...my kids like to play so nice together! I love that. One Sunday Eric went home teaching right when we got home from church the the kids started playing "school" while I made dinner. It's pretty cute. Dresden found the monkey "packpack" that we got last year for Disneyland and never used. He thinks he's such a big boy with it. Always talking about his school. They fill Ava's backpack with all sorts of random things and she reads him books and dresses him up. They even had nap time. I love when she takes care of him and teaches him things.
This was the first outfit. nice.

Then the moved on to jammies.

I would say dressing up happens every day at our house. It's not usually the typical princess dress up, it's the most random, mis-matched, halloween costumes, too small(or big) clothes they can find. These are just a few of the recent outfits.

love the bag hat.

seriously I don't have to even ask, if he sees my camera he goes into model mode!

Our first snow

It snowed there about three weeks ago. It melted in a few hours, which I was glad for! And it hasn't snowed since. It's actually been really nice for November. Ava was at school but Dresden was pretty thrilled about it. As soon as I told him it was snowing he ran to get his boots! My sweet sister-in-law gave us the "cars" boots and Dresden was been wanting to wear them outside the house for a long time. I always tell Ava to "put her boots on" when we are leaving the house and every time Dresden starts putting on his snow boots and is crushed when I tell him he can't wear them til it snows!

He had so much fun making marks in the snow. Right up until his hands touched it and it was freezing! He also liked trying to catch snow with his tongue. I think he and Ava will have lots of fun playing in the snow. Our cute little tree out front has already lost all it's leaves so I'm sure the real stuff will be here soon!

Hair cut

A few weeks ago we decided to cut Ava's hair. It was getting so long I didn't know what to do with it. We only cut 4 inches off but I didn't like it at first. It just didn't look like her for some reason. It's growing on me and sometimes I think it makes her look older. Most people might not be able to even tell. I wish I would have had them thin out the bottom but maybe next time. Although I'm not sure there will be a next time! She likes her hair long too. It's also getting darker. And with this cut almost all the really blond part got cut off.

I didn't really place here right so it's hard to tell on these pictures unless you look at the wrinkles in her shirt.

Silly kids. They are always doing this. Ava loves picking him up!

Halloween

Ava's class had a "Fall" party on Halloween. I guess they are very multi-cultural around here so they don't do Halloween at school. It was just a small party but I wanted to volunteer to help. Ava has been wanting me to come to her class for a long time. (Parents can come eat lunch with the kids and she has seen a few parents there). I didn't tell her I would be there so I could surprise her. It was so fun seeing her face. She was so proud that I was there. Her teacher put me in charge of face painting! The kids got to look through a book and pick what they wanted. I wanted to take more pictures but the teacher invited us to sit with them for circle time. It was fun getting to know the kids in her class and seeing some of what she does all day.

I got there right at they were finishing lunch. After lunch they have them brush their teeth!

Ava and her friend Jordyn. I painted hearts on Ava since she was being the queen of hearts that night.

For some reason our ward trunk-or-treat on on Halloween night. We had a great time walking around and seeing everyone's cute costumes. It was two wards combined so the kids got plenty of candy! I loved the look on their faces while going to each car. It was fun dressing up as a family this year too!

After that we went out trick-or-treating with our friends the Nehrings and Roberts. Ava is at such a fun age for it. She loved running from house to house, saying trick-or-treat, and getting candy. Dresden loved the running part and the candy part!

Carving Pumpkins

I don't don't know how but we managed to squeeze in pumpkin carving. The kids each picked out what they wanted to carve. Dresden chose Batman and Ava chose Hello Kitty. They lasted all of 5 minutes and Eric and I ended up doing the carving. He did Batman and I did Hello Kitty. But we got some little pimpkins for them to paint! We didn't do it last year so I'm glad we got to this year.

YMCA Halloween

Our YMCA had a free Halloween party. It was kinda crazy but they had some cute games for the kids. We met our friends there and ate dinner.

Dresden still loves his Vampire teeth!

We we laughing so hard that they both fell asleep on the way home with their eye patches on!

Dance

They let the girls wear their costumes to dance the week before Halloween. They were all so cute dancing to Monster Mash.

Kind of crapy video and don't mind Dresden being whiny!

Halloween Party

Halloween seemed more like a couple weeks this year. It was lots of fun but by the time Halloween came we were all ready for it to be over. We started it off with a little Halloween party with our friends. The kids loved eating the fun foods and playing games. The doughnut game was especially fun to watch.

It was getting dark but we still had fun eating doughnuts. I love Dresden trying not to touch it!

Ending the night dancing to Monster Mash!
